Our Response to COVID-19

Safety first

All of our team members have adopted the following procedures during pickup and drop-off:

Wear masks and apply hand sanitizer before and after every pickup

Avoid touching surfaces within your home during pickup and drop-off

Routinely sanitize our minivans with pet-safe cleaners daily

Routinely sanitize all common surfaces at Rascal Ranch daily

Harnesses & Leashes

Please either wash or sanitize your dog’s current harness after every use or purchase an additional harness for our team to exclusively use. If you choose to provide a harness for our team to use, we ask that you keep it separate from other pet supplies and not use it during your own walks with your Rascal to reduce touching shared items.

We will use our own slip-leads and leashes to avoid contact with your pet’s collar. Please ensure your dog always wears a collar with a current ID tag.

Schedule

We will work hard to remain on schedule and arrive during the following timeframes, but due to our daily Rascal schedules and route fluctuations, we may be earlier or later than expected. It’s hard for us to provide a specific time, but if we anticipate arriving more than 30 minutes late from your area’s time window, we will try to contact you.

Contactless Pickup & Drop-off

Since COVID-19 has led to working remotely for many, we offer a few options for contactless pickup. These policies will be in effect until further notice to ensure the health and well-being for all of our Rascals, customers, and team members.

Pickup Option 1:
Front Door Switcheroo

A team member will knock on your door upon arrival, and then step back 10 feet.

During pickup, please leash your Rascal, open the door, and allow your dog to walk outside. Shut the door on the leash while you remain inside so that your Rascal can’t run away. Our team member will approach your Rascal and swap your leash for one of our own to securely escort your dog to the minivan — please remain inside while we get your dog, or maintain at least 10 feet distance.

Pickup Option 2:
Safe Zone Handoff

A team member will knock on your door upon arrival, and then step 10 feet back while you secure your Rascal in your designated safe pickup area (such as a backyard, side-yard, garage, porch); please return to your home once your Rascal is secured.

This could be simply letting your Rascal into an already secure area for us to enter, but it also could be putting your Rascal on a secured leash outside of your home.

Pickup Option 3:
The In & Out

If you can’t do the Front Door Switcheroo or don't have access to a secure area for the Safe Zone Handoff, we can also pick up your Rascal from just inside your front door. Please maintain 10 feet distance from our team members at all times if we need to enter your home.

If your Rascal is normally crated during the day, please try to place the crate as close to the front door as possible so that we can minimize the amount of time we spend in your home.

Drop-off Option 1
The Welcome Home

A team member will knock on your door upon arrival, and then step 6 feet back with your leashed Rascal.

Please open your door and call your dog to you to come inside. We will loosen our hold on the leash so that your Rascal can come to you. When your Rascal comes to you, please remove our leash. If your Rascal gets excited and could be a runner, I recommend you have your own leash to swap out for extra security. Once you and your Rascal are inside, please shut the door. Our team member will then retrieve our leash. (Please keep in mind that this option is best for mellow Rascals that aren’t prone to distraction and running willy nilly!)

Drop-off Option 2
Safe Zone Handoff

A team member will knock on your door upon arrival, and then place your Rascal in your designated safe pickup area (such as a backyard, side-yard, garage, porch).

This could be simply letting your Rascal into an already secure area, but it also could be putting your Rascal on a secured leash outside of your home.

Drop-off Option 3
The In & Out

If you can’t do the the Welcome Home or don't have access to a secure area for the Safe Zone Handoff, we can also drop off your Rascal by letting them into your home. Please maintain 10 feet distance from our team members at all times if we need to enter your home.

Help us all stay safe

We’re all adapting to these new safety measures together, and appreciate your patience during these challenging times.

Contact us

Please notify us as soon as possible if anyone in your family has come in contact with or tested positive for COVID-19, or appears to be symptomatic.

Sanitize often

If we have to enter your home or backyard, please sanitize door handles, lockbox, keypad, gate latch, etc. before pick-up and drop-off after you, your family, or anyone else has touched these surfaces.

Wear a mask

Please wear a mask at all times when interacting with any of our team members and maintain at least six feet distance.

Social distance

Please do not approach our vans. It’s easiest for us to safely handle Rascals when owners are out-of-sight.
